Exploring Innovation and Tradition: Green DigiFashTech Manager Partners Visit AMFI
9 December 2024

As part of the 1st Transnational Partnership Meeting of the Green DigiFashTech Manager project on 9th December 2024, all project partners had the unique opportunity to tour the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) — a renowned hub for fashion innovation, education, and sustainability.
The visit provided partners with an up-close look at AMFI’s cutting-edge educational programs, where technology, design, and sustainability intersect to shape the future of the fashion industry. Partners engaged in insightful discussions with professors, explored the library of bio-based materials, and witnessed the inspiring work of talented students, whose creativity and technical skills exemplify the vision of the Green DigiFashTech Manager project.
A particular highlight of the tour was the chance to explore the historic AMFI building, a space rich with history and legacy. AMFI is located along the Amstel river on the Mauritskade. The historic building once housed the Amstel Brewery and maintains many of its monumental features.
This symbolic blend of past and future mirrors the goals of the Green DigiFashTech Manager project, which aims to bridge traditional craftsmanship with digital transformation and sustainability.
The visit left partners feeling inspired, motivated, and even more aligned with the project’s vision. Witnessing AMFI’s approach to sustainable education, bio-material research, and next-generation design thinking reaffirmed the importance of the project’s mission to foster a new professional profile for the textile and fashion industry.
The experience at AMFI not only deepened the partners’ understanding of modern educational approaches but also strengthened their shared commitment to driving positive change in the industry. This visit marks an important step forward as the project continues to promote sustainability, digitalization, and local manufacturing across Europe’s fashion sector.
