8 July 2025

The Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI/AUAS), partner in the Green DigiFashTech consortium, announces the launch of its innovative Master’s program in Digital Fashion Technology, commencing September 2025. This one-year, full-time track within the Master’s degree program in Digital Design represents a significant milestone in fashion education, addressing the growing need for professionals skilled in digital technologies across the fashion industry.
The Master’s program focuses on implementing cutting-edge digital technologies throughout the fashion supply chain while examining their broader societal impact. Students will develop expertise in applying AI, Blockchain, and 3D & Virtual fashion technologies to create sustainable and innovative solutions for the fashion industry’s most pressing challenges.
“We want to train students who are firmly rooted in the fashion industry while also having the knowledge and skills to use digital technology critically to innovate and change the industry,” says José Teunissen, director at AMFI and research member of the Green DigiFashTech project.
The program’s structure includes a foundation period, an applied industry project, and a capstone project, offering students from diverse backgrounds—including ICT, fashion, and design—the opportunity to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment. This unique approach allows participants to leverage their existing expertise while developing new skills through hands-on experience with emerging technologies.
Livia Pinent, lecturer and researcher at AMFI and research member of the Green DigiFashTech project, emphasizes the program’s practical focus: “Students will work on real issues in the fashion industry, designing concrete digital solutions through ‘research through design’ methodologies, while collaborating with AMFI research groups and industry partners”.
“We need critical thinkers who not only can drive the industry but also truly enjoy exploring the range of possibilities these technologies offer,” notes Lisette Vonk, lecturer and researcher at AUAS who has been involved in the Master’s program design from its inception.
