The Year in Review: What Shaped Our Work in 2025

2025 was a year of momentum, connection, and new beginnings for the Green DigiFashTech Manager project. Throughout the year, our work focused on building a strong foundation for supporting fashion and textile companies through both digital innovation and sustainable transformation.

Our research mapped twenty digital technologies widely used across the industry, supported by in-depth case studies from Greece, the Netherlands, and North Macedonia, alongside a comprehensive review of relevant academic literature. These insights helped us better understand how digital tools are shaping sustainable practices across different contexts.

We continued this work through interviews with industry experts, technology mapping, focus groups, and the development of a job profile and curriculum for the Green Digital Fashion Manager. A highlight of the year was the three-day hackathon in Athens, where ideas were tested, collaborations deepened, and innovative solutions began to take shape.

Together, these activities reinforced our shared goal: to develop a new vocational profile capable of guiding fashion and textile companies through the dual transition toward digitalisation and sustainability.

Our recommendations emphasise the importance of:

  • Structuring vocational education and training (VET) programs that gradually build key competencies
  • Providing economic incentives and accessible resources, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Integrating essential skills such as data analytics, ethical awareness, and circular design strategies into education and training

This integrated approach is crucial for enabling companies to successfully navigate the evolving landscape of the fashion industry.

On behalf of all consortium partners, we look forward to entering 2026 with renewed energy, ready to embrace the opportunities ahead and continue driving meaningful change.
