The MACEDONIAN FASHION ASSOCIATION (MFA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims to support, promote, connect, and develop North Macedonian creative industries since 2014. Our association shares a unique Macedonian design heritage and craftsmanship tradition. Our mission is to coordinate, support, and initiate the local and international economic promotion of North Macedonian artists, as well as regulate strategic cooperation regionally to harness the added value of collaborative action. MFA’s core objectives are to foster and enhance cross-cooperation between creative, business, social, and educational industries to develop a stronger identity and society.
MFA has always supported young talents through our work. The MFA aims to provide young people with opportunities for a future without restrictions, opening the horizons and awakening the innate talents of every student through a program for modern learning. Our goal is to support the climate for the incubation and development of young talent; To enhance the level of professionalization and new skills through MFA’s project activities.

Vision
The Macedonian Fashion Association (MFA) is an independent cultural and educational organization in the fields of design, fashion, and craftsmanship. MFA is a non-profit organization, and its members are volunteers and creatives from various backgrounds. Stemming from youth initiative in 2014, the association was founded with the aim of supporting young talents and creative businesses in the country and beyond. The association shares the values of Macedonian cultural heritage and tradition, incorporating them into its projects with an innovative and contemporary approach.

Our Team

Svetlana Bogova Jovanovska
Svetlana is CEO of Fashion Weekend Skopje and co-founder of Macedonian Fashion Association. She is one of the main driving forces in the representation, connection and support of fashion and crafts creatives within the Balkan region since 2009. Her work is designed for managing the transition in the Macedonian fashion sector. In 2017, she become partner of United Fashion project. The project aims at enhancing the culture of fashion designers across Europe to be more business minded and at enhancing their competitiveness internationally, without limiting their creativity. In 2022, she become a member of the European Fashion Alliance - a powerful new network of fashion organisations aiming to unite and change the European fashion landscape. Within the last two years, she has been researching how micro sized fashion and agriculture businesses can drive net zero goals, resilience in times of transition, and sustainable prosperity in the region.

Emilija Slavkova
Emilija is a seasoned fashion designer with 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, working with leading designers and companies. In recent years, her work has focused on digital fashion and mixed reality assets, reflecting her commitment to integrating technology and sustainability into fashion design.
Her expertise includes advanced proficiency with 3D design software such as Clo3D, Style3D, VStitcher, Marvelous Designer, Blender, Adobe Suite, and Meta Spark Studio, enabling her to create innovative solutions for the digital and physical realms of fashion.
As a professor specializing in Fashion Design and Technological Processes, Emilija is passionate about nurturing future designers. She explores innovative teaching methods, blending linear and non-linear approaches to foster creativity and adaptability in art students.
Her areas of scientific interest include the historical evolution of clothing styles, the intersection of political, social, and religious influences on fashion, and promoting a global perspective in the study of fashion history—moving beyond Eurocentrism to celebrate diverse cultural traditions.
A dedicated admirer of art, literature, film, and digital advancements, Emilija is continually expanding her knowledge to stay at the forefront of the industry.
